Normally we are do it yourself tourists, but we decided that we were going to join a bus tour to see the Blue Mountains west of Sydney. Good thing-we didn’t have to make any decisions, Bad thing-we didn’t have to make any decisions. We loved being taken care of, but we didn’t like being told where to be and when. We would have loved more time in certain places, but didn’t want the bus to leave us. All in all though, we had a fun day enjoying the sites with all the retired couples on our bus.
We saw some more of the great animals of Australia at a Wildlife park. The kids held an Olive Python, fed some wallabys, saw wombats, dingoes, echidnas, koalas, the most venomous snake in the world (can’t recall the name right now,) and kookaburras. Just to name a few.
The weather didn’t cooperate for us to see the iconic Three sisters, a rock formation in the mountains, but we had a lovely view of the fog.
One of the highlights was riding the Katoomba scenic railway which miners used to ride down into the rainforest to work in the coal mines. It is the steepest in the world at 52 degrees. The kids also found it hilarious that a man on the ride kept belching loudly like it was nothing. We ended up with him on the gondola over the rainforest too where he was still belching. At least it wasn’t their father.
