More animals

We have seen so many crazy and amazing animals in just the few days we have been here. We also had to adjust our plan for the extremely rainy weather we have had (which Sydney-siders ensure us is unusual.) The Sydney aquarium was our first stop the next day. Sharks and rays galore. The funky looking ones are called Woebegong sharks. Creepy, no? We also have a Chinese grandmother (ha, ha). She is standing to the left of us in front of the giant tank.

Our stop that afternoon was The Rocks. The first part of Sydney that was settled by convicts. All the good will was gone by the middle of the afternoon, so we contented ourselves by doing the Pylon lookout on the Harbour Bridge. We climbed up one of the cement pylons on the end of the harbour Bridge for fun, to read the history of the bridge and for the fabulous views of the harbour. It was still rainy and windy, but we didn’t mind.

Since we were tired, we couldn’t face the walk back to our flat, so we were towed by bicycle back. Poor guy. He said he had been a bicycle messenger in San Francisco, so toting tourists around in Sydney was a piece of cake. Andrew said it was his favorite part of the trip so far. His second favorite part has been the gondola ride over the zoo. (maybe we should have just gone to an amusement park instead of all the way to Australia ;-)
